  • Their connection to Ancient Egypt

Philipo Kaai Laitayock, or Lesimbi, his Maasai name (which means leader), was born in a Maasai village, in Mukuru, Tanzania. He became a leader after he had a dream that showed him he would help the people.  As a young man, Lesimbi started off as a shepherd, taking care of his father's sheep, but one day when he was out with the sheep, he and his dog were attacked by a troop of baboons, and was badly injured. When he reached his home, his father was advised by a respected friend that Lesimbi should be sent to school, as herding sheep was not his place. Lesimbi went to school, he studied English and eventually became a tour guide, and is now the leader of his Maasai community, where he also collaborates with the organisation Africa Amini Alama.
